Of two routes that lead to Everest base camp, the route from Jiri to Everest base camp is the most classical route that has historical importance.

There are two routes that lead to Everest base Camp-one is from Lukla and another is from Jiri. The way to Everest base camp from Jiri is was used by two reverent first climbers of Mt. Everest-sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953. If trekkers like to follow this classical route, they begin their journey from Jiri. Seven to eight hour drive to Kathmandu takes trekkers to Jiri from which the route to Everest base camp begins. Green terraced farm, people rafting in the Bhote Koshi river and adventure-lovers undergoing bungee jumping on Bhote Koshi river are some the temptations which no trekker can curb and control.

This journey from Jiri passes though the Sherpa villages of Solukhumbu. It gives back the unique fusion of natural and cultural beauty. It proves the chance to the trekkers to explore the landscape of the entire Khumbu region, and green forest. Apart from this, trekkers would be glad to see rare wild animals, birds, lush village and stupendous façade of gigantic mountains. Most of the regions of Solukhumbu have beautiful monasteries which simply embody the religious faith and doctrine of the native inhabitants of this region. What lingers in the minds of trekkers is the Mani Rimbu dance that is performed in monastery. Excluding this, another aspect of unique cultural convention can be seen. That is Dumbje festival. This festival stands for the original ethos and spirit of the socio-cultural life of the native people of this region. As the elevation and height increases, trekkers and travelers need instant adaptation and acclimatization. As the journey moves upward, Namche Bazaar looms in an enticing way. This bazaar is popularly known as the hub of hospitality on the part of the indigenous Sherpa people.

Namche bazaar yields strange outlook on Sherpa life trade. The lifelike struggle of these native people can be seen. Namche Bazaar gives a slice of life of Sherpa people who struggle to thrive amidst drawbacks and discomforts. From Namche Bazaar, the trip continues upward reaching famous Tengboche monasteries. The setting and surrounding of these monasteries is substantially splendid. Surrounded by mountains, this monastery looks to be the most monumental evidence of the architectural design of the Himalayan people. As the journey proceeds ahead, the sole and whole objective of the trekkers is to reach the Kala Patthar. The moment of reaching Kala Pattahr is the joyous moment since the south west view of Mt. Everest can be seen without any hindrance. Reaching the Kala Pattahr means making the elevation higher.
